Broadband Access Forum

Delivering Broadband in the local loop at a cost-effective rate is the greatest challenge facing the communications industry. Though this penetration may take longer—and cost more—than many would expect, its advent will mark a new era in communications. In the end, it will be end user demand for broadband at an affordable price, not government regulation, that will create and drive tomorrow's enhanced communication services. Technologies available to service providers in meeting this goal continue to evolve and mature, as do the opportunities for success and profit.

The Broadband Access Forum at NCF-InfoVision 2001 examines the emerging access alternatives and strategies for delivering broadband in the local loop. Technologies such as fixed wireless, cable, DSL, satellite, Gigabit Ethernet, HFC, and free-space optics will be discussed and evaluated as to their potential for reaching the consumer and business end user. This set of sessions is designed specifically to bring carriers up to date on the very latest developments in broadband access technologies and how they are likely to fare in coming years.
