IEC Names Frank D. Reese Senior Director

CHICAGO — The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) named long-time Board of Directors member, Frank D. Reese, Senior Director of the IEC at its recently held Board meeting.

After graduating from Cornell with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Reese began his professional career as an Equipment Engineer for General Telephone Company of Pennsylvania. In 1957 he joined the GTE Service Corporation as Engineering Director, and was elected President of GTE Automatic Electrical Laboratories from 1960 until he retired in 1974.

As a second career, he has held the positions of Executive Vice President, General Manager, President and General Manager of North Pittsburgh Telephone Company, and President of the holding Company, North Pittsburgh Systems. Most recently, Mr. Reese retired from the position of Director, Future Technology and Product Planning for North Pittsburgh Telephone Company.

North Pittsburgh Telephone Company is an independent telephone company located in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania. It has an operational territory in parts of northern Allegheny county, southern Butler county, and the small southwest corner of Armstrong county.

Frank is one of the founding board members of the Exchange Carriers Standards Association, the predecessor of the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS). He served this organization as Vice Chairman, Board of Directors, and Member of its Executive Committee.

Mr. Reese has been active in professional and industry organizations as Past Member and Chairman, Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Telephone Association; Member, National Services Advisory and Numbering Resource Availability Committees; and as past Board Member of the United State Telephone Association. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and a Member, Board of Visitors, University of Pittsburgh, Library and Information Science School.

Among his contributions to the International Engineering Consortium over the past 40 years, he has served on numerous committees, as Director, Chairman, and Member of the Executive Committee of the Board.
