China Netcom's Chairman Chunjiang Zhang Headlines Broadband World Forum Asia 2007 as IEC Brings Its First Global Show to Mainland China

CHICAGO – 5 March 2007 – The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) presents the Broadband World Forum Asia 2007 with China Network Communications Group Corp. (CNC) as the official host sponsor in Beijing this 5-8 June in the China World Hotel at the China World Trade Center. Mr. Chunjiang Zhang, general manager of CNC and chairman of the Board of China Netcom, serves as the World Forum chair.
IEC President John Janowiak stated, "Working with Chairman Zhang and CNC to host the Broadband World Forum Asia in Beijing is an honor for the IEC and a great opportunity for the entire industry. The Broadband World Forum Asia 2007 brings together international leaders to examine the range of broadband content, entertainment, applications, access strategies, service management, and integration that form the backbone of the profitable network operator.

Mr. Zhang has held his current role since April 2003. From 1999-2003, he was vice minister of the Ministry of Information Industry (MII). Prior to that, he was the director general of the Telecommunication Administration Bureau of the MII. Mr. Zhang was the chief of staff of the General Office of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) from 1996-98. He has also served as deputy director general of the Administration of Telecommunication of the MPT, director general at the Mobile Bureau of the MPT, and deputy director general of the Administration Bureau of Posts and Telecommunications in Liaoning province.
Mr. Zhang introduces the Broadband World Forum Asia 2007 with the opening ceremony and keynote address on Tuesday, 5 June.
